Our 6 star hotel in London is a key part of the city’s history.The Wellesley is a 1920s townhouse restored with a modern take on the art deco style and offers contemporary luxury, traditional glamour and uncompromising service in Knightsbridge – one of London’s most prestigious locations.
The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, daily housekeeping and a private bathroom for each room or suite.
The Wellesley opened in December 2012 following a lavish refurbishment of the building at 11 Knightsbridge. Interior designers Fox Linton drew on the inspiration of the building’s history as a famous jazz club. There are, of course, contemporary touches and state-of-the-art technology that give guests the best of both worlds – an authentic prohibition-era feel, with all of the comforts of the modern age. Furniture and features have been meticulously recreated with an original 1920s interiors brochure for guidance.
The hotel is named after Sir Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington, a fine military leader who served as the Prime Minister of Great Britain twice between 1828 and 1834, and later as leader of the House of Lords. His statue stood atop the original Marble Arch commissioned by King George IV to commemorate victory in the Napoleonic Wars.
